Life Transformation Coach (LTC) – KCMO/KCK

The Life Transformation Coach (LTC) is responsible for cultivating the participant and Coach relationship along our Pathways to Success program model. This starts at enrollment and continues in engagement with participants before, during and after they have completed the Personal and Professional Development Training (PPD). Life Transformation Coaches are participant centered, knowledgeable about community resources and act as a strong advocate for participants. The LTC will maintain a relationship with participants and work with them to achieve both short- and long-term goals through the development of a Life Plan.  The Life Transformation Coach provides resources, accountability and encouragement as participants pursue their goals. The LTC inspires, engages, and supports participants at all stages of their transformation without judgment or prescription using coaching practices and reinforcing PPD curriculum.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works one-on-one with participants at all stages of program participation to empower, challenge and support transformation utilizing PPD curriculum and coaching approach to support cognitive skill development in everyday situations
  • Actively recruits new participants and works with the team to conduct orientation, application and enrollment; documents interactions accordingly
  • Provides accountability and actionable support to participants as they pursue goals outlined in their Life Plan; offering individualized and non-prescriptive support
  • Makes timely and appropriate referrals to meet basic needs, advance educational goals and promote employment success; understands scope of service and refers out as needed
  • Understands and uses a variety of assessments to tailor services
  • Coordinates with the Training Facilitator to collaboratively address training needs; ensuring a positive experience for participants; including but not limited to lunch prep, classroom setup, administrative tasks, and co-facilitation
  • Cultivates community partnerships that benefit participants; follows up with partners to promote seamless, collaborative service delivery
  • Participates in community coalitions/collaboration meetings to build partnerships, promote CtS, and advocate for services that benefit our participants
  • Develops and/or leads group activities to support different life plan areas. For example, a walking group to support health goals or a facilitated parenting group to support family goals.
  • Promotes and participates in routine engagement activities such as Connect, PWG/PMG, Career Connections and emphasis importance to participants; uses these groups to strengthen relationships with participants
  • Collaborates with team to facilitate engagement activities – may require evening and weekend availability and passionate commitment to participant relationships and engagement
  • Engages participants in providing feedback about program offerings and invites participants to contribute to the organization and community in meaningful ways
  • Promotes CtS to potential employers, volunteers, donors, partners etc
  • Communicates with mentors to facilitate positive relationships with participants
  • Completes surveys, case notes, attendance records; updates employment and education information promptly when participants’ status changes. All interactions documented within 48 hours. Completes required reports on time and with accuracy with the ability to track, manage and use data in a timely, accurate manner across a variety of database systems.
  • Manages time and priorities effectively.
  • Thinks creatively to advance opportunities for participants and achieve CtS mission.
  • Maintains confidentiality with all sensitive information (participant, donor, partner, volunteer)
  • Maintains standard of professionalism
  • Assists in community outreach to increase awareness of our program to potential participants as well as develop relationships with organizations in the community
  • Conduct intake and enrollment of new program participants both at CtS office and inside correctional facilities partnering with CtS
  • Participates in supporting trainings both at CtS offices and correctional facilities while anticipating needs and identifying strengths
  • Ability to work with team to effectively and seamlessly enhance experience of all participants
  • Ability to use office equipment including, but not limited to: computer, telephone, voicemail, photocopier.
  • Engage, participate, and contribute to assigned activities that further the goals of CtS
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution. Experience can be substituted for education.
  • Experienced in prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
  • SMART Goal development experience a plus!
  • Minimum of 2 years case management experience working with the re-entry population, non-profit sector, social services, life coaching or a related field preferred. Holistic case management a plus!
  • Experience working with high-risk populations to include those reentering the workforce from incarceration and low-income populations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate via verbal and written forms for communication
  • Self-starter who isn’t afraid to advocate for participants and exceed expectations
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to articulate passion and commitment to this work
  • COMPETENCIES: Incorporates basic competencies into all aspects of the position, including:

  • Life Coaching: demonstrates the ability to observe the participants’ work and provide feedback and discussion to help the participant through the learning process.
  • Data Management: Complete data entry on all applications and enrollments, weekly and monthly surveys, notes, as well as walk in and phone call engagement within 24 hours of event.
  • Team Work: Work to assist CtS team members in filling program needs and mission, as needed. Engage in staff meetings. Use communication skills effectively and professionally.
  • Community Engagement: Creating and maintaining working relationships with community partners and agencies for the purpose of referring participants to community resources and/or employment.
  • Communication: Demonstrates ability to process information quickly, differentiate content issues and isolate critical points; asks appropriate focusing questions to engage the participant; asks appropriate follow-up questions to clarify and redirect as needed.
  • Leadership: Exudes confidence in serving as a champion in the formation and implementation of CTS’s objectives. Supports learning by providing support and encouragement; expresses confidence that participants will be able to learn a new skill; defines and describes strengths-based approach and can provide 2 examples of how it can be used in training environments.
  • Presence and Authenticity: projects confidence in own skills and ability to lead the group as well as in the curriculum; demonstrates warmth, caring and authenticity; understands impact of energy on participants and makes modifications appropriate for the group and topic; adjusts own style and language to engage diverse groups.

    Additional Information
    This position is full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position. Employee will be eligible for full benefits including health, retirement and vacation benefits after 90 days of employment. We invite potential candidates with incarceration/ criminal justice system history to apply.

    Starting Salary Range
    $37,000.00 – $43,000.00 and is contingent on qualifications and experience
